The UFC’s 2024 schedule closed on a high note Saturday with UFC on ESPN 63 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., which featured a number of brutal knockout results.

Although it wasn’t technically a knockout in the main event, the strikes of Joaquin Buckley (22-6 MMA, 11-4 UFC) were the difference en route to a third-round doctor’s stoppage TKO of Colby Covington (17-5 MMA, 12-5 UFC) to keep undefeated in the welterweight division.

Event stats

Joaquin Buckley def. Colby Covington

Buckley improved to 6-0 since he dropped to the welterweight division in May 2023.

Buckley’s six-fight UFC winning streak at welterweight is tied for the third-longest active streak in the division behind Shavkat Rakhmonov (seven) and Jack Della Maddalena (seven).

Buckley has earned all 15 of his career stoppage victories by knockout. That includes eight of his 10 UFC wins.

Covington suffered consecutive losses for the first time in his career. He hasn’t earned a victory since March 2022.

Covington has suffered three of his five career losses by stoppage.

Cub Swanson def. Billy Quarantillo

Swanson’s (30-14 MMA, 15-10 UFC) 20 victories in UFC/WEC featherweight competition are tied with Max Holloway for most in combined divisional history.

Swanson’s 15 victories in UFC featherweight competition are third-most in divisional history behind Holloway (20) and Darren Elkins (18).

Swanson’s nine stoppage victories in UFC/WEC featherweight competition are third most in the combined divisional history behind Jose Aldo (11) and Holloway (11).

Swanson’s seven knockout victories in UFC featherweight competition are second-most in divisional history behind Holloway (nine).

Swanson’s 15 fight-night bonuses for UFC/WEC featherweight bouts are the most in combined divisional history.

Swanson’s 11 fight-night bonuses for UFC featherweight bouts are most in divisional history.

Manel Kape def. Bruno Silva

Manel Kape (20-7 MMA, 5-3 UFC) has earned 17 of his 20 career victories by stoppage.

Bruno Silva (14-6-2 MMA, 4-3 UFC) has suffered four of his seven career losses by stoppage.

Dustin Jacoby def. Vitor Petrino

Jacoby (20-9-1 MMA, 8-6-1 UFC) improved to 8-5-1 since he returned to the UFC for a second stint in October 2020.

Vitor Petrino (11-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) has earned eight of his nine career stoppage victories by knockout.

Petrino has suffered both of his career losses by stoppage.

Petrino suffered the first knockout loss of his career.

Daniel Marcos def. Adrian Yanez

Daniel Marcos’ (17-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) five-fight UFC unbeaten streak at bantamweight is tied for the third-longest active streak in the division behind Merab Dvalishvili (10) and Mario Bautista (seven).

Marcos has earned three of his four UFC victories by decision.

Adrian Yanez (17-6 MMA, 6-3 UFC) has suffered four of his six career losses by decision.

Michael Johnson def. Ottman Azaitar

Johnson (23-19 MMA, 15-15 UFC) improved to 4-5 since he returned to the lightweight division in October 2019.

Johnson’s 12 knockdowns landed in UFC lightweight competition are second-most in divisional history behind Melvin Guillard (13).

Ottman Azaitar (13-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) has suffered three consecutive losses after starting his career 13-0.

Azaitar has suffered all three of his career losses by knockout.

Joel Alvarez def. Drakkar Klose

Joel Alvarez (22-3 MMA, 7-2 UFC) has earned all 22 of his career victories by stoppage.

Drakkar Klose (15-3-1 MMA, 9-3 UFC) has suffered both of his career stoppage losses by knockout.

Sean Woodson def. Fernando Padilla

Sean Woodson’s (13-1-1 MMA, 7-1-1 UFC) eight-fight UFC unbeaten streak at featherweight is tied with Movsar Evloev and Lerone Murphy for the longest active streak in the division.

Fernando Padilla (16-6 MMA, 2-2 UFC) suffered the first stoppage loss of his career with a TKO defeat.

Felipe Lima def. Miles Johns

Miles Johns (15-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) suffered the first decision loss of his career.

Miranda Maverick def. Jamey-Lyn Horth

Miranda Maverick’s (15-5 MMA, 8-3 UFC) eight victories in UFC women’s flyweight competition are tied for third-most in divisional history behind Valentina Shevchenko (10) and Katlyn Cerminara (nine).

Maverick’s 23 takedowns landed in UFC women’s flyweight competition are second-most in divisional history behind Shevchenko (47).

Jamey-Lyn Horth (7-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) has suffered both of her career losses by decision.

Davey Grant def. Ramon Taveras

Davey Grant (15-7 MMA, 7-6 UFC) has earned three of his seven UFC victories by decision.

Ramon Taveras (10-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) suffered the first decision loss of his career.

Piera Rodriguez def. Josefine Knutsson

Piera Rodriguez (10-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) has earned all three of her UFC victories by decision.

Josefine Knutsson (8-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) had her eight-fight winning streak snapped for the first defeat of her career.
