Free agent point guard Chris Paul is signing a one-year contract worth over $11 million with the San Antonio Spurs, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal came together quickly after the Golden State Warriors waived Paul on the day his $30 million salary for the 2024-25 season was set to guarantee.
Paul, 39, will spend his 20th NBA season in San Antonio, joining forces with coach Gregg Popovich and 20-year-old star center Victor Wembanyama. Last season, Paul accepted a bench role with the Warriors, starting only 18 of 58 games and averaging 9.2 points and 6.8 assists.Paul is third all-time in NBA assists with 11,894, filling a key need for the Spurs as they aim to build a winning team.
