Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca says he would like to sign a striker before the transfer window closes on 30 August.

The Blues have been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer market, with versatile attacker Joao Felix their most recent addition.

However, despite a number of attacking options at his disposal, including Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk, Pedro Neto and Christopher Nkunku, Maresca is keen to add more firepower.

“If we have [the] chance to bring a No 9 that can help us and make the difference, we are going to try. Otherwise, we are ok," Maresca said.

“We don’t need to sign players just for [the sake of] signing players. If we sign players that are going to help us to improve, for sure we need players. Otherwise, we are happy in the way we are.”

Maresca has also stated that Robert Sanchez will remain his first-choice goalkeeper, ahead of summer signing Filip Jorgensen, but he will not be afraid to change that decision.

Sanchez started Chelsea's Premier League opener, a 2-0 loss to Manchester City, while Jorgensen made his debut in Thursday’s 2-0 UEFA Conference League playoff first-leg win at home to Servette.

“This is the plan in this moment, but the plan can change," Maresca told the club's official website.

"I judge players on their level. If the level continues to be the same, probably Robert will be in goal when we play Premier League, and Filip will be in goal in the Conference League or the cups. But in the end, it’s just about performance.”

Chelsea are next in Premier League action away to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
