For 76 years, the Point Leo General Store has supplied locals with grocery essentials, helping to turn the Mornington Peninsula village into a camping and surfing destination.

But when the store fell dormant for almost a year, local-born Tyler Miller and sisters Rebecca and Vanessa Graley, of popular Dromana bakery Miller’s Bread Kitchen, decided it was time to bring it back to life.

It’s a full-circle moment for Miller, who worked next door to the general store as a teen, sanding surfboards at surf shop Trigger Brothers, before taking up a baking apprenticeship at Babka in Fitzroy.

Now known as The Point Leo General Store (By Miller’s Bread Kitchen), the 1948 building retains its gorgeous original hardwood floors, but the new owners have hung historic framed prints of Point Leo, tucked seating for about 15 into various nooks and crannies and added further seating outside.

“It’s such a classic spot, so much history, and we wanted to keep all that original general store vibe,” says Miller.
