Joshua Kimmich powered home a second-half winner as Bayern Munich booked their place in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals with a merited 3-2 quarter-final aggregate win over Arsenal.

Thomas Tuchel's side were worthy 1-0 winners on the night after securing a 2-2 draw at the Emirates in the first leg last week against a visiting side whose key loss of form continued after their perplexing 2-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.

After Leon Goretzka hit the bar with a header and Raphael Guerreiro struck the post early in the second half, it was Bayern who sealed the victory on the night on 63 minutes when full-back Kimmich threw himself at Guerreiro's cross to book their spot in the last four and a match against Real Madrid.

AND ANOTHER YELLOW CARD FOR BAYERN MUNICH

Kimmich is the latest man into the box for a late foul on Havertz before Gabriel Jesus is booked for dissent.

Raya off his line to repel a late Bayern Munich attack before an offside flag goes up against Saka amid an almighty scramble in the home box from a long throw-in. Phew! Nervous finale in this one.

A LATE CHANCE FOR ARSENAL

Odegaard's drive at goal is pushed wide by Neuer. Wasn't on target, but the keeper was taking no chances. Somehow it isn't an Arsenal corner. Very odd. And Neuer looks surprised in the home goal.

HOME SIDE WELL IN CONTROL

This is what experience at UEFA Champions League level does for you. Are really taking the sting out of Arsenal, and are inching towards the semi-finals. All or nothing surely for the Gunners right here. Have to take risks.

OFFSIDE FLAG GOES UP AGAINST GABRIEL JESUS

Lookied like he had timed his run to perfection, but first touch is awful before he bundles the shot well away from goal. Poor really even if the offside flag was up.

SALIBA WITH A VITAL INTERCEPTION

Raphaël Guerreiro tries to pick out Kane on the run, but Saliba intervenes in the nick of time to secure vital possession. Arsenal pressing for the equaliser.

BAYERN FANS SENSING A VICTORY

They tend to be very decent at game management skills, but a 1-0 lead in Bavaria heading for the final 10 minutes of regulation play sounds like a strong one for Bayern Munich, who are happy to keep the ball.

ARSENAL EARN FIRST CORNER OF NIGHT

Saka throws the ball deep to the back post as Neuer comes out to claw the ball away for another corner. Rice with the delivery from the other side, but there is a foul in the box with Neuer blocked as he tried to come out. Pressure off the home defence for the moment.

ARSENAL HANGING ON AT MOMENT

Saliba the latest visiting defender to knock the ball behind from the Kimmich drive after Gabriel did well to block the Sane run. Frantic stuff as Bayern chase a killer second goal.

DIER EXCELLING FOR HOME SIDE TONIGHT

Incredible to think he couldn't get a sniff of a match at Tottenham on this level of form. Really enjoying his night out in flying into some tough, but fair challenges.

VIDEO: KIMMICH FINDS THE VITAL OPENING GOAL

Was a cracking opening goal to make the run into the box. So difficult to defend.

CAN'T SAY IT WASN'T COMING

The home side have opened this second half with a real sense of purpose in hitting bar and post before Kimmich struck. Another chance falls to Sane, but he leans back and lifts the ball miles over the bar. Should have been 2-0.

GOAL! (KIMMICH) BAYERN MUNICH 1-0 ARSENAL
