HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu Fire Department has ruled the cause of a sailboat fire at the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor as accidental.

Officials said the fire reported on Sunday was caused by an incandescent light bulb that was inadvertently left on.

HFD said the radiant and conducted heat ignited nearby upholstered furniture and clothing.

Firefighters said the fire broke out just after 10 p.m. Crews arrived on scene and discovered smoke billowing from a 33-foot sailboat that was secured to the dock.

HFD was able to secure a water supply and initiated an aggressive fire attack with handlines and extinguish it just before 10:50 p.m.

Officials said there was no one on board at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.
