Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody’s new film The Brutalist received a warm welcome at the Venice Film Festival. The historical drama directed by Brady Corbet received a thunderous 12-minute standing ovation after its world premiere at the Main Competition section of the festival. 

Adrien could be seen breaking down with the response to his film. In pictures from the premiere, Adrien can be seen wiping away his tears. Adrien attended the world premiere along with the rest of the cast.

A Variety report suggested that Adrien was “overcome with emotion” as movie watchers continued to clap. The report stated that the “actor wiped tears away and held his head in his hands, repeatedly trying to direct the applause toward his director and co-stars, but the spotlight kept falling back on him.”

The Brutalist also stars Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Raffey Cassidy, Stacy Martin, Emma Laird, Isaach De Bankolé, and Alessandro Nivola. 

Critics present at the film festival called The Brutalist, one of the best films of the year. Many also said that Adrien has delivered the best performance of his career while some calling it award worthy. Some went on to say that he can be up for Best Actor Oscar next year. 

Adrien has previously won Best Actor Oscar for The Pianist. 

What is The Brutalist about?

As per the official synopsis, The Brutalist “chronicles the journey of Hungarian-born Jewish architect, László Tóth, who emigrates to the United States of America in 1947. Initially forced to toil in poverty, he soon wins a contract that will change the course of the next 30 years of his life.”

The Venice Film Festival kickstarted on August 28 and will conclude on September 7.
