The Canons returned to winning ways after falling in a humiliating loss to the KIU Titans. This becomes their second victory after easily going past the Kampala Rockets in the season Opener.

On the other hand, Power has now lost the two games played so far in the campaign. First, they fell at the hands of ruthless City Oilers before the Canons compounded their sorrow.

UCU Canons kicked off the duel with the much-needed rhythm creating an 11-point (20-09) game by the end of the first period. Joel Kayiira made an exciting highlight with a stunning dunk sending the crowd to their feet.

The second quarter was a low-scoring period for UCU Canond who managed only 12 points, eight less than the the first. Power improved defensively but only managed to drop nine, trailing by 14 (32-18) at halftime.

Phillip Amney’s two three-pointers shot energy into the Power camp reducing the deficit to six (37-31). However, the Canons reorganised and regained their momentum posting a 10-point  (44-34) lead at the end of the third quarter.

Isaac Afidra and Samad Imran fouled out, leaving Timothy Odeke with limited options. Amidst the pressure coming from Power, the Canons held on before they sealed a 13-point victory.

Kayiira finished with a double-double, scoring 13 and pulling down 11 rebounds before Peter Sifuma added 12 points while Elvis Ssentongo led Power’s scoring with 17 points as Ameny and Samad Imran chipped in with 16 and 14 points respectively.

The Canons return to action on Sunday, February 11 as they take on JT Jaguars while Power will lock horns with JKL Dolphins on the same day.
